A report from GM Ron Secunda:

I donít know about the rest of you, but I was filled with excitement and anticipation just arriving at the Host.

Our first 1st-round-heat was held in room Host A. It was crowded, hot, and noisy and had to have been the reason six of nine games could not be finished in time, and they had to be adjudicated - the first time I ever had to adjudicate. I feel your pain if you were close to victory, but didnít win. Most everyone was good-natured about it.

In our second 1st-round-heat in that room, the temperature was even worse. Fortunately, we were able to change location, and, in spite of the delay in getting started, only one game went a few minutes over and did not need to be adjudicated. We still are faced with the dilemma of RB being a 3.5 to 4-hour game. Therefore, next year, if I am still Gamemaster, I will schedule the games for 5 hours instead of 4, so players will have some free time following our 1st-round-heats.

After experiencing a decline in the number of RB players, I am pleased to report we had 49 players this year, nine more than last year. A very nice group of people attended the demo, and many of them played RB in the Tournament. One of them, Gary Chamblee, won his way to a seat at the Final game!

History repeated itself this year at the Final game. In 2006, a husband and wife (Inger and Harald Henning) both were seated at the Final game, and, Inger won. This year, it was my wife and I. Well, congratulations to my better half! In another twist of fate, my wife was first alternate to get into the Semi-Final, and I was second, and we replaced two no-show players - and won our Semi-Final games!

Congratulations also to Chuck Foster, who won all three 1st-round heats (and his Semi-Final) to get seated at the Final, my AGM Chester Lanham, who won two 1st-round-heats (and his Semi-Final) to get seated at the Final, and Donna Balkan, who also won two 1st-round-heats.

Thanks to AGMs Chester Lanham and Paul Van Bloem for all their help, and all the terrific RB players who help make the games so much fun.
